Went fly fishing with Capt. Rick Lauman on his custom built flats skiff to the Pascagoula marsh. I had poled Rick no more than 5-minutes when two huge bull redfish came toward us on a collision course. A well placed crab fly was eagerly engulf by one of the huge reds. An incredible shallow water battle ensued, and when I finally managed to grasp the mammoth red by the tail, a new pending state saltwater fly fish record was established. Fished the I110 Bridge spanning the Back Bay of Biloxi today with another fine catch of 70 or more white trout, 2 legal specks, one flounder, a few ground mullet, and plenty of ladyfish. On this trip I was accompanied by Rob Langlinais and Kenny Dewey aboard my new 19-foot G3. My double rigs consisted of SPRO Three Way Swivels, 2/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Hooks, and 30-pound-test Seaguar Flourocarbon leader material. Read the rest of this entry »

Caught plenty of nice size white trout and ground mullet in the Back Bay of Biloxi. Fished on the east side of the I10 Bridge four spans south of the draw area. Action was fast and furious, and my fishing companions Brad Huffman, his 8-year-old daughter Kennedy, and Brad’s dad Dan had a blast. For bait, menhaden caught in the brill net and fresh dead squid from nearby David’s Fishing Camp was used to lure the frenzied bottom feeders. Read the rest of this entry »
