Duck Hunting Report – November 24, 25, & 26 (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday) 2006
Hunted the Mississippi Sound hard for 3-days. Plenty of ducks on the Sound, however they did not fly as well as expected. Spent entire days in the marsh waiting for the big redheads, and our persistence would pay off. The finally tally: 18 redheads, 1 drake canvasback, 1 drake mallard, 3 drake bluebills, and 1 scoter. Fished the Back Bay of Biloxi with excellent success on “ground mullet” a.k.a. southern kingfish off the west end of Goat Island. Action was fast and furious for a couple of hours. Loaded up! Had the pleasure to fish with Jeff Vickers from Ocean Springs, Mississippi and his father George from Arkansas today. On a catch and release outing, these two anglers caught school trout practically nonstop for an hour or so near Goat Island. Moving farther up the Back Bay of Biloxi, this father and son duo managed to keep their rods bent while battling 40 or so black drum in one location. Ranging from 2 to 5-pounds, the drum provided excellent light-tackle action, and added a couple of sheepshead, redfish, and flounder into the mixed bag. Ended the outing with a few more sheepshead and black drum by the old Back Bay Bridge. Read the rest of this entry »
