DAY TWO SIMPLY OUTSTANDING! FLORIDA POMPANO AND BULL REDFISH DOMINATE BITE ONCE AGAIN!

Just when we thought we had enjoyed a perfect fishing trip, well, the second trip with Joey Lewis, his brother Scott, and Nemo Fore on Saturday topped Friday’s world-class fishing.

Joey Lewis, Scott Lewis, and Nemo Fore caught this mess of redfish and Florida pompano at the barrier islands aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Today we by passed the inshore reefs and headed straight to the barrier islands. Back in the “honey hole” the bite on Florida pompano was fast and furious once again. Not only were the Florida pompano stripping drag and jumping wildly, those manic ladyfish and bluefish were on the shallow flats to provide excellent light tackle fun too.

Although he lost a few monster redfish on light spinning gear, Joey Lewis of South Carolina boated and released this beautiful specimen.

Today, two shots at the bull redfish occurred, and on their second opportunity the fish were eased up on with the trolling motor, and they once again surrounded the boat. Redfish everywhere! Needless to say, every one hooked up, and each hooked fish was followed in by packs of other hungry reds.

Scott Lewis of South Carolina with a nice slot redfish caught aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and the day’s catch at my fish cleaning station.

My three clients were going wild, screaming and hollering, I thought they might have a heart attack. Nahhh, they are to young for that! In the last two days they lost some monster redfish on the 10-pound-test spinning gear, but Joey finally landed a brute today. Folks, it doesn’t get any better than those two days of fishing in south Mississippi, and as long as the weather remains mild this hot fishing should continue at the barrier islands.

So don’t just sit around, step aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS and create your own fishing memories.

A Flurry Of Florida Pompano & Redfish Rule The Day!

Today was another one of those epic fishing trips that my clients won’t soon forget. My three guest from South Carolina included Joey Lewis, his brother Scott, and Nemo Fore. Started out at the Gulf Park Estates Reef, and the bite was slow. Boxed 25 or so white trout using Old Bayside Paradise Popper X-Treme popping corks, but ran into some big Spanish mackerel, and they boated 3 fine specimens.

Joey and Scott Lewis, and Nemo Fore of South Carolina aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS with redfish, Florida pompano, and Spanish mackerel.

Ran to Horn Island, and then to Ship Island where the men got into a Florida pompano catching frenzy. The bite was on, and the silvery exotics were sucking up the dead shrimp fished on the bottom. On the small spinning tackle the trio of anglers were having a blast, but soon hundreds of bull reds appeared all around the boat and crashed the party.

014

Now that’s one heck of a Florida pompano catch! If you’re wondering there are no limits on pompano in Mississippi.

Tossing out the popping cork rigs baited with live menhaden the fight was on, and they were eager to eat anything in their path. And I mean anything! Those starving reds ravaged all of my new $6 popping corks, crushing them, and leaving them full of teeth marks.  The men were hollering and screaming, and simply enjoying the mass of redfish that had suddenly surrounded the boat in 2-feet of water.

Nemo knows Florida pompano!                                      The guys are all smiles enjoying a triple hookup aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

In that chaos the men managed to boat 5 nice redfish, and lost quite a few on the light gear, but had a great time never the less. Joey lost a monster red about 35-pounds, but had a wild time. Once the big reds passed through it was back to pompano fishing, and moments later the hot bite resumed. They caught and released a number of big ladyfish too, but in less than 3-hours 22 beautiful Florida pompano were introduced to the ice chest.

Here at TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS my work is never done. Working into the night to get ready for the next day’s trip.

Just another magnificent day on the water in south Mississippi aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Our final tally for the day was 22 Florida pompano, 5 bull redfish, 3 big Spanish mackerel, 25 white trout, and a bunch of those high leaping ladyfish. As usual, these gentlemen were an extreme pleasure to fish with, and are making plans to come back in November. However, the guys are going back out with me again tomorrow, and hope to catch them a few more quality fish. Don’t know how long these Florida pompano are going to hang around, but will milk them until the cold weather chases them off the crystal clear flats.

Biloxi, MS – Nearly 100 Edible Fish Boxed Under Poor Fishing Conditions!

Today I had the pleasure to guide Marlon Phillips and his brother Ottis from Atlanta, GA to a fun day of fishing. Although the weather and water conditions were stacked against us, our persistence paid off in the long run.

002

Finding refuge from the strong easterly winds we stopped at the Gulf Parks Estates Reef, and there the two gentlemen enjoyed a flurry of white trout catching using Old Bayside Popper X-Treme popping corks, 5-feet of 25-pound-test Seaguar fluorocarbon leader material, and a size 4 4X Strong Gamakatsu treble hook.

Once the bite slowed we ran to the Katrina Reef where we were greeted with more muddy water and rough seas. We ended up at the Bellefontaine Reefs, and there boxed a few more nice white trout and ground mullet. Before arriving back at the D’Iberville Marina, a pit stop in a honey hole in the Back Bay of Biloxi led to 4 black drum to end the day.

Tough fishing conditions, you bet, but the gentlemen fished hard and caught plenty of fish for their fish fry. These two gentlemen were a pleasure to fish with, and Marlon will be back again for more fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Final tally…90 white trout and ground mullet, a big spot, and 4 black drum. All things considered, another fun day of fishing in south Mississippi.
