BILOXI, MS FISHING – Big Black Drum, Sheepshead, & Flounders Bite – And It’s Time To Shoot Ducks!
Ran a trip a few days ago on Monday, and the Dan Baston group hammered the big sheepshead and black drum. Started out in Fort Bayou looking for specks, but the gnats were so bad we went back to the Ocean Springs Oyster Reef where we had bee slaughtering the white trout and ground mullet, as well as a few nice specks.

However, the last cold front dropped the water’s temp by nearly 6 degrees, and the fish weren’t there. Running out of time, well, a quick run back into the Back bay of Biloxi delivered some rod bending action with big sheepshead, black drum, and a big flounder.

The drum bite was off a bit, but the big sheepshead took up the slack. These guys fished hard to fill up a live well with the hard-fighting bottom dwellers, and in the process we missed quite a few big fish. Anyway, at least they got to experience some light tackle fun, and the 3 gentlemen were excellent anglers and a lot of fun to fish with. Dan doesn’t live very far away, and he intends to come back this summer and experience the barrier island Florida pompano bite aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.
Sounds like a plan! And a lot of fun too! If you’ve kept up with my reports and pictures, well, you know the phenomenal summer my clients had catching those hard-fighting, beautiful, and tasty Florida pompano in the gin-clear shallows of the barrier islands. In the end their final tally included: 10 big sheepshead, 1 “14-inch” speckled trout, and 3 black drum with 1 pushing 20-pounds.
DUCK HUNTING BEGINS ABOARD “TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS!”
Yeah that’s right, it’s time to shoot ducks once again, and here at TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS we’re geared up and ready for another season. Already have the two days after Thanksgiving booked (1 man each day), and a few more in December. However, there will be more as the season progresses, especially if the weather and ducks cooperate.
A fully guided trip goes for $450 a day (that price is the same for 1 or 2 hunters), and it includes myself as well as an assistant guide to help out with the boat and all of the decoys involved. These are big-water diving duck hunts with an emphasis on redheads. Posted are a few picks from last season’s hunts. Gets me fire up just looking at them! Enjoy!
Here at TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS we offer both fishing and duck hunting options. And if you opt, we can conduct a “cast and blast” on the same day. Hunting in the morning and fishing in the afternoon, a great way to spend a day in south Mississippi.
