The Pompano Bite Is Hot! Can You Break The New Record?

Until today, 10 Florida pompano was the daily record aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS for 2009, but a father and son duo took it a notch farther today by boating an even dozen.

That’s right, Jay Mitchell and his father boated 12 of those tasty speed demons, and man did these guys have a blast tangling with them on light spinning tackle.

Do those Florida pompano look good? Well give me a call, and you can catch some for yourself. Jay and Clark Mitchell sure had fun catching these fish. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Oh yeah, the bluefish and ladyfish were there to keep it a constant bite, but we’ll take a dozen pompano on any given morning. No, they weren’t jumping, so we just anchored up in a nice looking spot, set out 4 lines, and it was instant fish catching fun.

Also, we moved out to deeper water, and there the guys managed to box 3 nice Spanish mackerel, as well as our twelfth pompano.  A great ending to a fantastic morning of Florida pompano fishing.

Although we were surrounded by thunderstorms, well, it all went around us leaving a magnificent morning to fish. The shallow flats were calm and crystal clear, an idea setting for catching pompano. To top it off, Jay caught 2 at one time, and what a thrill that was.

Starting to see more and more sponge crabs on the flats, and that generally means the pompano bite is about to get really hot.

So what are you waiting for…let’s catch some POMPANO!

POMPANO SURE TO PLEASE! MORE EXCITING POMPANO ACTION ABOARD "TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS"!

When Dr. Keith Goodfellow called and wanted to catch some Florida pompano, well, I was all smiles.

One man, and on a mission to catch his first pompano was right down my alley. Better yet, I knew where they were, and the weather looked to be ideal. And it was!

And what a morning of non stop fish catching it was. Fishing 4 lines at once, all double rigs, it took all I had to keep them baited up and back into the clear shallows of the magnificent barrier islands.

What I like to see! A good catch of Florida pompano at the dock! Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Keith caught fish all morning long, and no they weren’t all pompano. Matter a fact, oodles of ladyfish, bluefish, hardtails, and a couple of stingrays had to be landed before a nice pompano reached the ice chest.

But our hard work paid off, and the rewards for Keith were 9 beautiful Florida pompano. No telling how many of the missed bites were from pompano, and a really big pompano cut Keith off on the prop. Doesn’t the big one always seem to get away?

Hey, you would be smiling like Dr. Keith Goodfellow too, especially if you landed these 9 delicious Florida pompano. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

No matter, it was an excellent morning of pompano fishing, and I could not have had a more pleasant and easy going client.  Dr. Goodfellow was a lot of fun to fish with, and hope to fish with him again down the road.

Starting to get more and more calls for pompano fishing so hop aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and let’s create some fun fishing memories of your own.

BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI FISHING – Young Anglers Have A Great Day Aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS!

I’VE GOT PLENTY OF OPENINGS NOW SO GIVE ME A CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LET’S FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My charter on Sunday was composed of family members including my nephew Steve Severson, his wife Kay, their children Lyn-Holli and Christian, as well as Kay’s father Randy Camp.

Let me just say, this was a great trip for them, not only the fish catching, but the entire experience spent aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

With the morning starting out windy, well, it was a quiet area well into Davis Bayou where the fishing began. There a bite on big “yellow-mouth” white trout turned on, and they boxed 35 or so really fine white trout as well as a nice speckled trout.

Around 11:30 the winds died down, and then it was a quick run to the barrier islands. No sooner did we get anchored up when the first Florida pompano was put in the boat. Soon after 3 more fine fish were landed, and a couple of more nice fish missed. However, when the last fish was boated a pompano free jumped right into the boat, and that gave us 5 nice fish in a short period of time.

We didn’t fish long for the kids were getting tired from the heat, but it was a real exciting way to end our day on the water. While at the islands, a mix of high-leaping ladyfish, bluefish, hardtails, catfish, and stingrays were added to the fish catching excitement.

Pods of dolphins herding massive schools of mullet, as well as a 5-foot shark prowling the shallows was great entertainment for the kids. Heck, one never knows what they might see out at the islands, and it always makes each trip something special.

Bottom line, they went home with a mess of fish, had a wonderful time aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, the kids were simply great, fished hard, were well mannered, and were a pleasure to fish with. Steve and Kay, you have two wonderful kids, and they are excellent anglers.

By the way, Mr. Camp has fished with me before, and he just loves being out on the water, for Randy, well, catching fish is just a bonus when spending quality time with the grandchildren.

Thank you all for the trip, and hopefully we will put another one together before the summer is over. Folks, the pompano are there for the taking, so book a trip and experience this shallow water fishing for yourself. Its been a great run in the last two month, but I have a lot of openings in the next two week.

So give me a call and put me to work!

Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
