Over 250 White Trout, A Nice Spanish Mackerel, & A Tripletail To End The Outing Aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS… Plus White Trout On "Gummy Worms"!

Today I decided to run to one of my old favorite white trout reefs, and the call was right on the money. Once the anchor set, and the first bait hit the bottom, well, it was game on for three hours in a row. Cast after cast fish were coming over the side of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS faster than I could unhook fish, and then bait them back up.

Oh, but what a great dilemma to be in! My clients were Donna Arrington, her daughter Peyton Montgomery, Lisa Seep, and  her son Jacob Seep, all anglers new to this sort of fishing. Well, with such an active bottom bite with fish covering the reef with voracious appetites it didn’t take these anglers long to figure it out.

Hammer time baby! Cast after cast delivered fish after fish, and the bite was simply phenomenal. The seas were calm, skies just a bit overcast, tide moving well, and water clarity was good in the Mississippi Sound. Ideal conditions to load up on the tasty white trout.

Donna Arrington a.k.a. “Tripletail Queen” landed this tripletail in the Mississippi Sound while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS on a half a day outing. The fish was caught under a crab trap cork while running in from the fishing grounds, an excellent bonus catch added to all of their other fish. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Lisa Seep a.k.a. “Stingray Princess”, Jacob Seep a.k.a. “Spanish Mackerel King”, Peyton Montgomery “Top Angler 75 White Trout”, and Donna Arrington a.k.a. Tripletail Queen” landed this box of 250 white trout, 1 tripletail, and 1 Spanish mackerel while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS in the Mississippi Sound. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Jacob Seep is all smiles, and extremely proud of this fine Spanish mackerel he caught on light tackle while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS in the Mississippi Sound. On light tackle Spanish mackerel are real drag screamers, and broil up nicely! Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Gummy Worms for bait?…You Bet! And Peyton Montgomery proved it by landing 3 white trout in a row using candy Gummy Worms as her bait. It seemed the red and orange-hued Gummies were a favorite of the white trout. Hey, I don’t make this stuff up, I just tell it as it is! By the way, look at that serious face…that’s the face of a fish catching machine for Peyton caught fish non stop for three hours in a row. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

When the morning outing came to an end, 250 white trout, 1 nice Spanish mackerel, and a delicious tripletail a.k.a. “blackfish” graced TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS ice chest. Croakers were thick on the reef two, and the kids each caught a line stripping shark to add to the angling excitement. Lisa even landed a stingray, an unwanted specimen, but a hard fighter, and always fun to look at.

And this was  a half a day trip! Listen…you want to make your kids happy and have them catch plenty of fish, well book your light tackle fishing trip aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS now. Photo by Capt. OK, I’ve hear of kissing a bass, but a tripletail, well, Donna Arrington is about to give her tripletail a.k.a. “blackfish” one big smack. Hey, either you love your fish or you don’t! Pictures like this are what make a fishing trip all the more fun at the end of the charter. This entire group were great sports, and made my job a pleasure as they enjoyed a banner morning of light tackle angling aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Somewhere along the line Peyton suggested using candy Gummy Worms for bait, and so I decided to slip one on her hook. Low and behold, Peyton was soon reeling in a fine white trout. Well, to prove it wasn’t a fluke she caught two more nice trout on the candy treat, and was quite happy with her accomplishment.

I am sure there were thousands upon thousands of white trout surrounding the boat, but still in all Peyton proved they can be caught on Gummy Worms. And that’s a true fish story!

What can I say, another great group of clients, slick as glass seas, enough cloud cover to keep it comfortable, and hordes of fish below with piranha-like appetites.

Just think, this could have been you catching all of those fish! So what are you waiting for, book your trip now aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS and create some family fishing memories of your own.

Donna, Peyton Lisa, and Jacob…thank you all for being such great sports, and hope to see all of you again in the future.

MY NEXT OPEN DATES ARE JULY 30 & 31 if there are any takers out there!

BILOXI MISSISSIPPI CHARTER BOAT FISHING – Chasing Florida Pompano In Crystal Clear Shallows Made A Fun Fishing Adventure Aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Today was another wonderful outing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and my comeback guests were up to the task of hunting down some of the finest eating fish in the earth’s waters.

Randy Bell and his son Yuki drive in from California with their kayaks, and always make time for a full day of charter fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.

Last summer they boxed boxer 150 edible fish including white trout and speckled trout, but today our venture would lead us to the magnificent shallows of the barrier islands in pursuit of the highly rated Florida pompano, a species known for their extreme power and fighting antics, as well as their food value.

Catching pompano isn’t easy while most anglers are happy to catch even a couple, however, finding and landing these delicious fish are a trademark of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and today wasn’t any different.

Since these shallows are loaded with fish sporting voracious appetites, well, it can take a lot of hard work to cull through the hordes of big high-leaping ladyfish, bluefish, hardtails, sharks, and stingrays that prowl these shallows.

However, my crew was up to the task, and in the end they managed to put 11 gorgeous Florida pompano in the box. The guys were amply impressed with the speed and power these flats dwellers possess, and were quite eager to get them on the dinner table. They even brought back 3 nice bluefish that we bled out, and then prepared on the cleaning table.

It was fun doing the “pompano thing”, but on the way back in just a short distance from the dock I put them on some big “yellow-mouth” white trout to end the wonderful day.

Matter a fact, I had them bait up with live menhaden, and I just motored over the “honey hole” while they dropped their baits straight down. The entire time the motor was running, and I took off fish as they swung the hefty trout aboard. It was game on, sort of like snapper fishing, and they proceeded to put 50 fine white trout in the box for the finale. That was great fun, and when clouds of fish appeared on the recorder the bites ensued.

We left the fine white trout biting, but it’s good to see them showing up in good numbers in the Back Bay of Biloxi, and I continue to fish them, especially when someone wants a comfortable and safe trip in the calm water confines of the Back Bay of Biloxi. Matter a fact, I ran my first charter boat trip at that spot years ago when I took out a regional director of the FBI, and I still fall back on it when the time is right. Always have to have a plan A, B, or C in this demanding business!

In our waters Florida pompano are considered an exotic fish, love clear shallows, fight like crazy, and are delicious baked up. Above, Randy Bell, his son Yuki, Jerry Furby, and George Dulick had a great time in landing a fine catch of 11 Florida pompano, as well as a bonus catch of 50 big white trout caught just a stone’s throw from the D’Iberville Marina. Again, would like to thank Randy, Yuki, George, and Jerry for sticking with the pompano, and hammering out a nice catch. These gentlemen are always an extreme pleasure to fish with, and make my job more fun than it should be. Thanks to you all!

So there you have it, another fun day of fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. From now through the fall fishing will only get better, so hop aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and let’s create some fishing memories of your own.

Regards, and many thanks to all of my clients that make TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS a success,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie

SUMMER FISHING IS GREAT, BUT FALL AND WINTER FISHING ABOARD "TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS" IS EXCELLENT TOO!

It’s a fact that we have plenty of great summer fishing ahead of us, but the fall and winter fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS is excellent too.  And the beauty of it is we don’t have to leave protected waters to catch a variety of hard fighting and delicious fish.

The most popular species will be the big sheepshead and black drum, redfish, and speckled trout will be gathering in the bays and rivers too. This is calm water fishing around bridges, piling, and wrecks. Most of the speckled trout will be caught in coastal rivers, another scenic area to fish and enjoy the surrounding beauty of south Mississippi.

Here are a few pics of some of my latest fall and winter catches made aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS to get you motivated when the weather cools. Hope you enjoy them as much as my clients did catching these fish!

The guys above were part of a CircleK convention in March, and in just 3 hours they managed to catch 11 legal redfish with numerous throwbacks, 23 sheepshead, 4 flounders, 2 specks, and 2 ground mullet just minutes from the dock. Left them biting! Capt. Tom Becker of the charter boat Skipper was gracious enough to let me use his fish cleaning table at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor.

This was a monster black drum that might have challenged the state record, but we opted to release the huge fish. James Allmon landed the big fish, his daughter of the Mississippi Convention & Tourism Burea was aboard, as well as Canadian Tim Baines, a sports editor form the Ottawa Sun.

Jim Underwood caught 2 of these big black drum last February, and did so on Yo-Zuri Hybrid 10-pound test and a 1/0 Gamakatsu Octopus hook.IMG_2538

The pictures above of Ben Benoit and myself with bull redfish and black drum were taken in January at the barrier islands. The big fish were all over the shallow flats. Following the fish with the trolling motor It was an incredible sight fishing experience.

Above, in November, Ronnie Buice from Texas landed 2 of these huge black drum in the Back Bay of Biloxi. Believe it or not, Ronnie had a rod jerked out of his hands and he dove underwater and retrieved it. He popped up from under the water with the rod in his hand with a monster still trying to pull him under. Thank the Good Lord above the line broke, and I was able to pull Ronnie back into the boat. Heck, after that he fished another hour and landed and released his second fish. It was near freezing that morning. Talk about a fish story!

Hope you enjoyed this sampling of recent fall and winter pictures. Remember, I do the guided duck hunts too, just in case you want a shot at a trophy redhead this winter.

This was one of my most memorable guided duck hunts of last season on the Mississippi Sound. This was a father and sons hunt, with Nick Oster, his brother Marcus, and their dad Crieg. Crieg being in the military had just got back from Afghanistan the day before. Talk about a wonderful family reunion! Those big trophy redheads and scaups made for the perfect diving duck hunt!

Regards and many thanks to all of my wonderful clients,
