NOW BACK TO CAPT. BRODIE’S LATEST FISHING REPORTS…

RECENT REPLIES FROM CLIENTS…

Robert, our group had a GREAT time fishing with you as usual. It was a little slower than normal with the fishing, but I had a blast as I caught fish pretty  much every where we stopped!! ha ha… Gibson and I like to give each other a hard time, and that makes the day even better. I enjoyed catching the specks, but I think it was a blast top-water fishing for the bluefish and ladyfish. Something about watching the fish come up and get the bait gets your anxiety level spiked.

Anyway, once again, thanks for being the best guide we have ever had down there, and we are looking forward to seeing you next May. I am actually trying to get a guys getaway trip up in Sept. if possible. If we come to the Gulf we will be definately be calling you to get us “hooked” up on some good fishing.

Brian Cooper

Thanks for a great day captain!

Hey Capt. Brodie, I was curious I you were able to e-mail me the photos you took of our excursion on May 26th (we were the group where the “Sethis” got sea sick).

I saw the photos on your web site of us, but when I save them to my computer it comes out as a low quality image, and we were wanting to get some prints made. Thanks for your help in advance, and also thanks for the trip we had a blast!

Brandon Mann

Note: Looks like the big sheepshead are returning back to the bay from their big spawn offshore, black drum are biting good once again, redfish are around the bridges, white trout are thick on the reefs, flounders are on the front beach, some really big specks are at the isles and in the bay too, and the bays are full of menhaden for live bait. Bottom line…fishing is good!

PS: The brand new lower unit and stainless prop runs like a dream, and it shifts smoother than it did when newly purchased.

BOOKINGS: At this time I have June 3,4,5, and 6 booked up, but plenty of openings on the following week.

Fishing The Back Bay Of Biloxi - Jim & Pam Gathright - Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

ABOVE: Pam & Jim Gathright are no strangers to TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and have made a number of trips when they come to Biloxi for vacationing. Pam is quite the lady angler, and generally catches most of the fish. Call it luck or skill, Pam always seems to have the lucky hand, and puts plenty of fish in the box. Both Jim and Pam are a pleasure to fish with, and they fish hard making sure we catch a mess on each trip. Pictured above are some of the fish they caught including: redfish, sheepshead, black drum, and speckled trout. Once again nasty weather offshore kept up fishing in the protected waters of the Back Bay of Biloxi, but a nice catch prevailed anyway. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Although Pam and Jim caught 2 nice keeper redfish, a number of smaller fish just under the slot limit were released, and they lost a really huge red at boat side.Oh well…that’s fishing! ABOVE: “Love the smell of a fish box in the morning” When fishing the Back Bay of Biloxi one never really knows what will bite next. Here, speckled trout, black drum, redfish, sheepshead, and white trout delivered a good morning bite for the Gathrights from Texas. The beauty of fishing the protected inshore waters of the bay is you’re merely a few minutes from potential fishing grounds like bridges, concrete rubble, channels, bayous, and oyster beds. Caught these fish on a strong morning rising tide, and used mostly live shrimp from Fort Bayou Bait Shop to fool the bay dwellers. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Crown Leisure Marine & Philip Bond Saves The Day!

OK, it’s 1:27 and I am already back home with a new lower unit and new prop. Even test drove it, and it runs and shifts better than new. Philip was at the shop all by himself, and got TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS back ready for action. Talk about a quick turn around. Thanks to Capt. Bryan and Philip Bond my lemon day was turned into lemonade. Thanks my friends…much appreciated!

Had Engine Problems Today!

It was a gorgeous morning with a light northeast wind keeping things cool. The boat was loaded with live shrimp and menhaden, dead squid, tackle rigged up for the onslaught, and we were off to a big white trout catch.

However, not far from the launch we heard a loud clonk and the motor locked up. Well, that was it for the day, and the boat was in the shop by 9:30. We’re hoping it’s the lower unit rather than the head, but I’ll know in a couple of hours.

Philip Bond was there at his shop at Crown Leisure Marine, and had a matching lower unit to throw on if that’s the problem. If that is the problem and he can get to it today it will be a blessing. The motor is still under warranty, but hate to lose trips.

Oh well, such is life, and there are worse thing to worry about in life. Heck…I am just glad to be alive! By the way, many thanks to my friend Capt. Brian Cuevas that came to my rescue. I knew he would!

Remember life is short…let’s fish!

Regards,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
