FEEDBACK FROM RECENT CLIENTS…

Capt. Brodie,

I want to thank you again for one of the best fishing trips I have ever had in my 50 years of life on earth. The last time my arm hurt like that was when I was in Alaska halibut fishing.

Those black drum and bull reds really wear you out. You are a great outdoorsman with many years of experience. I enjoyed all the stories you shared with me while my rod was bending. I will definitely be back.

I was wondering if you could send those pictures to me from the web site. Your story of our trip was great and will be a memory I cherish the rest of my life. I have called all of my friends and gave them your web site.

Thanks again,

David & Melda Bartholdi

Captain Brodie,

Had an absolute blast fishing with you yesterday. I know I can speak for everyone in saying we had an amazing time. The fishing was great and the trip as a whole was fantastic. I’m sure we will see you soon when my brother gets home from college. That is great news about the recent opening of the barrier island waters, maybe we can snag a bull red or two out there! I’ll be in touch about possible dates for the next trip, thanks again!

NOW BACK TO CAPT. BRODIE’S LATEST FISHING REPORTS…

Just finished up running 5 trips in 4 consecutive days. I am completely exhausted, but the fishing was excellent, and the clients were all great people. I’ll just put pics of the last 4 trips with some captions to condense the trips since I’ve been so busy. This may take a day or two to get it done right, but I am on it.

By the way, ran out to the outer white trout reefs today with the Zack Craft group, the water was clear, and the big “yellow mouth” white trout and loads of small sharks were in a feeding frenzy. Put 108 of the hefty trout in the box, and stopped off at the bridge and caught a fine mess of black drum to top off the big ice chest. Just a wonderful fish catching day!  The white trout are really big right now and hungry too, and the small sharks are thick and eager to strip drag on the light tackle.

Our waters are clean, clear, and simply full of life, so come on down and enjoy the top notch light tackle fishing fun. Really…don’t put it off the fishing is phenomenal! Hope you and all of my clients enjoy the pics as I get them posted. FISHING IS BACK TO NORMAL IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI, and many thanks to all!

ABOVE: Sunday August 1, 2010 -  At the D’Iberville Marina, anglers Ashley Chism, Zack Craft, and Corey Hapkins pose with a massive fish catch of big “yellow-mouth” white trout and black drum they made fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS on an all-day trip. First they put the smack down on 108 of the big white trout, and then topped off the ice chest on the way back to the marina with 12 black drum. This was a day of constant catching…very little fishing! Go figure, the day before the bite was slow as molasses due to neap tides! Want in on some of this action? Well, hurry up and contact Capt. Robert L. Brodie at (228) 697-7707 or shoot him an e-mail at email hidden; JavaScript is required. You can find more pics and a video of Zack catching a really big black drum on Facebook. ABOVE: Sunday August 1, 2010 – In the Back Bay of Biloxi, angler Zack Craft poses with a fine black drum he caught and released while bottom fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. This was an excellent day for Zack, his parents Brenda and Jackie, his girlfriend Ashley Chism, and Corey Hapkins for they boxed 108 big white trout, 12 black drum, and caught many small hard fighting sharks. Simply a day of non stop fish catching fun! Heck, they had so much fun that they’ve already booked another trip this month. Oh but the bar has been set high!  There is a video of Zack landing the big drum on Facebook. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

ABOVE: Saturday July 31, 2010 – Have to admit, on this half-a-day morning outing with Richard Vannatta, his sons Taylor and David, and his brother-in-law Ricky Fortenberry the neap tides were killing us. However, despite the extremely slow bite this fine group of gentlemen hung in there to land a few fish. Our take home catch included 2 fine slot redfish, 9 black “puppy” drum, and 20 or so white trout and ground mullet. Bottom line, they all fished well, and if the bite would have been good this group would have easily stacked them up, but a few fish still found the ice chest for a fish fry despite the fish having lockjaw. A great group of guys indeed, and hope to get them on a day when the bite is hot as fire. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

ABOVE: Saturday July 31, 2010 – This was a late afternoon trip, and Buddy Moore dropped off 3 teenagers including his 19-year-old daughter Danielle, 13-year-old son John, and a friend Matt Foster for me to entertain for a couple of hours. Fishing was tough with a neap tide, but the teenagers fished hard, never gave up, and managed to put a fine redfish, 8 or so black drum, and a mess of white trout in the box. Great kids to fish with, polite, and fished hard to the end of the day. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

ABOVE: At the D’Iberville Marina, David Bartholdi from Texas was a one man wrecking crew on the fish population in the Back Bay of Biloxi today while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. You name it…he caught it including a non stop bite of black drum from puppy drum to 40 pound monsters, gorgeous redfish, a flounder, and a mess of fine white trout. What a morning with a light northwest wind, clean water, and fish biting like crazy. Unlike the last couple of trips where we had to really work to catch fish, today it was game on everywhere we wet a line. By the time the morning bite was over David’s arms ached, and he literally filled the big ice chest to the point of not fitting in another fish. Heck, we released plenty of fish and left them biting like mad. No, this wasn’t a morning of fishing, but was definitely a morning of hard-core fish catching fun. Caught all of these fish just 5-minutes from the D’Iberville Marina in the fish keeping zone. Want to try your luck at some of this fish catching action? Well, simply call Capt. Robert L. Brodie at (228) 697-7707 or shoot him an e-mail at email hidden; JavaScript is required

ABOVE: Hailing from the Lone Star State, David Bartholdi caught his 3-fish limit of these gorgeous slot redfish while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and lost a couple of monsters too.  Although we’re limited to the Back Bay of Biloxi for keeping fish, going back to many of my old childhood haunts has been delivering plenty of rod bending action. Today David had an epic morning of bottom fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERs, and left the fish biting out of control. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

ABOVE: Didn’t have to release this hefty black drum, but he was just a bit to big for the dinner table, and besides, the ice chest was full of puppy drum, white trout, flounder, and redfish. ABOVE: David Bartholdi from Hemphill, Texas poses with some of the fish he caught while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS in the Back Bay of Biloxi. Today, not including plenty of catch and released fish, David’s take home catch included 33 black drum, a nice flounder, 25 or so white trout, and his 3-fish limit of gorgeous redfish. A number of big black drum and redfish was lost on this outing, but that all part of the light tackle challenge. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

IMG_0558

ABOVE: Black drum are excellent eating and simply a blast to catch on light tackle. Like their red-hued cousins the redfish, these fish are a sucker for a dead shrimp fished on the bottom, and they range in size from small “puppy” drum to specimens well over 60-pounds. Today David experience an epic morning of bottom fishing in the Back Bay of Biloxi aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS catching 25 or so white trout, a nice flounder, and 40 or more black drum of which 33 were introduced to the ice chest. Lost a number of huge fish to underwater structure too. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

NOW BACK TO CAPT. BRODIE’S FISHING REPORTS…

Today I had Jim Swittenburg from Georgia back aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and for the first time he had his son Johnny aboard. With Jim it’s generally catch and release, and today it would be mandatory since we were fishing in the no take zone. Our quest was to catch a few fish that would provide a good pull, and the redfish and black drum delivered the bite. Caught and released plenty of small reds, as well as a couple of nice slot fish, but Johnny caught a monster red that provided great excitement on this outing.

IMG_0525

ABOVE: Johnny had quite a thrill hooking into this big bull redfish. The fish made numerous hard runs, even getting tangled in the bridge piling, but the top-shot of braided line saved the day, and the big fish was worked back out of the pilings into open water.  Would rather be lucky than good any day of the week. Bottom line, a fine redfish landed, and released to fight another day. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

IMG_0540

ABOVE: A nice speckled trout…no…but a big “yellow-mouth” white trout caught while fishing for black drum. Johnny had the lucky hand today landing white trout, black drum, as well as a couple of nice redfish. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Nearly 3-feet in length, Johnny had his hands full landing this brute. The fish made tremendous fast runs, and even ran back into the pilings, but the top-shot of braided line held, and the fish was slowly worked out of the piling back into open water. After more hard runs and plenty of nervous moments the big fish was introduced to the landing net. After a few pics the bruiser was safely released to fight another day.

Jim is an accomplished angler, but Johnny was “the man” today catching the most and biggest fish. It’s always great fun when Jim steps aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and looking forward to fishing with him and “the man” once again. Thanks guys…great fun as usual!
