PRICES: Prices for a half-day or full-day of fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS are quite reasonable. Half-a-day trips are 5-hour outings and go for $350, and the 8-hour all-day trips go for $450. Included in this price is ice, bait, tackle, fuel, fish cleaning, MS fishing license, and up to 4 anglers can divide up those prices. You simply step aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and then step off. It’s that simple! Born and raised on the shores of the Back Bay of Biloxi, a true “water rat”, Capt. Brodie has a legitimate 45-plus years of experience fishing the waters of south Mississippi, and prides himself in being one of the hardest working, diverse, and most productive captains in south Mississippi.

Now back to Capt. Brodie’s latest fishing report…

Today I had another wonderful father and daughter duo fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and man did they ever catch their share of fish. Armed with Shimano spinning reels, St. Croix rods, and live shrimp for bait, well, Nicholas Honchar from Brooklyn, New York and his daughter Nicole put the smack down on the big sheepshead, black drum, and white trout.

However, once again it was the big sheepshead that stole the show, and more and more of the big rod benders are moving into our coastal bays.  And the beauty of fishing for the drum and sheepshead that it’s just a very short run to the structure loving fish.

ABOVE: Nicholas Honchar from Brooklyn, New York along with his daughter Nicole enjoyed some excellent light tackle fishing today aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. In the mix was 20 sheepshead a.k.a. “bay snapper”, 12 black drum, 20 white trout, 2 speckled trout, and a big spot.

My friends this is excellent light tackle fishing fun, and just a short run from the launch. Want to try you hand with this fun fishing action, well, simply e-mail Capt. Rigging for the big sheepshead consists of a 1/0 Gamakatsu Nautilus Circle Hook, a 1-ounce weight, and a 2-way leader made up of 25-pound-test Seaguar fluorocarbon leader. A simple yet extremely effective rig, especially with a lively shrimp for bait hooked through the base of the horn. Haven’t had any rain in a while, and the bay is starting to clear up nicely, and that’s why the fluorocarbon leader is always an advantage for catching the sneaky sheepshead.

Both Nicholas and his daughter Nacole were excellent anglers, and were quick in figuring out the sheepshead’s sneaky bite. Nicholas, thank you for coming all the way down to south Mississippi from New York to fish our Deep South waters. It was an extreme pleasure, and hope to see you again sometime down the road.

ABOVE: All fish not released aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS are professionally cleaned and packaged up free of charge by the captain himself.  The Honchar’s catch above is about to be filleted, skinned, and have rib cage removed with the aid of an electric knife. However, many clients like to have the skin and scales left on, and cook the fillets scales side down on the grill. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie

Folks, the fish are biting, the weather is cool, and I am ready to go anytime you are! So what are you waiting for?  Let’s go have some fun, catch a mess of fish, and enjoy a beautiful day of fishing here in south Mississippi. Isn’t that what life is all about? If not…it should be!

Regards and many thanks to all,

Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
