NOW BACK TO CAPT. BRODIE’S FISHING REPORTS…
Today I had Jim Swittenburg from Georgia back aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and for the first time he had his son Johnny aboard. With Jim it’s generally catch and release, and today it would be mandatory since we were fishing in the no take zone. Our quest was to catch a few fish that would provide a good pull, and the redfish and black drum delivered the bite. Caught and released plenty of small reds, as well as a couple of nice slot fish, but Johnny caught a monster red that provided great excitement on this outing.
ABOVE: Johnny had quite a thrill hooking into this big bull redfish. The fish made numerous hard runs, even getting tangled in the bridge piling, but the top-shot of braided line saved the day, and the big fish was worked back out of the pilings into open water. Would rather be lucky than good any day of the week. Bottom line, a fine redfish landed, and released to fight another day. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie
ABOVE: A nice speckled trout…no…but a big “yellow-mouth” white trout caught while fishing for black drum. Johnny had the lucky hand today landing white trout, black drum, as well as a couple of nice redfish. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie
Nearly 3-feet in length, Johnny had his hands full landing this brute. The fish made tremendous fast runs, and even ran back into the pilings, but the top-shot of braided line held, and the fish was slowly worked out of the piling back into open water. After more hard runs and plenty of nervous moments the big fish was introduced to the landing net. After a few pics the bruiser was safely released to fight another day.
Jim is an accomplished angler, but Johnny was “the man” today catching the most and biggest fish. It’s always great fun when Jim steps aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and looking forward to fishing with him and “the man” once again. Thanks guys…great fun as usual!
