Fishing (Salt & Freshwater) Guiding Info
Having fished the Magnolia State’s waters for over 40-years, Capt. Brodie specializes in year round light tackle angling along the Mississippi coastline as well as Louisiana’s vast marsh realm. Most fishing is conducted in near shore and inshore waters, as well as coastal rivers. Robert specializes in light tackle action for a variety of species including white trout a.k.a sand sea trout, ground mullet a.k.a. southern kingfish, flounders, speckled trout, redfish, Spanish mackerel, pompano, black drum, and sheepshead.
Some of the greatest light tackle fun can be achieved by fishing oyster reefs for white trout and ground mullet. At times, bottom fishing with scaled down bottom rigs and cut squid or fresh dead shrimp can lead to non-stop fishing action with these two species. This type of angling is a blast, and children especially enjoy this type of fishing. Getting plenty of bites…and catching all sorts of fish! When conditions are right the Mississippi Sound offers a good shot at finding those structure loving tripletail too.
If you like to wade fish, Robert can take you to the Louisiana marsh where excellent opportunities await those willing to get their feet wet. In these waters, speckled trout, redfish, and flounders will be the prime shallow water species. Of course boat angling is available too, and bottom fishing for white trout, ground mullet, black drum, and redfish is excellent in these waters also. At times, incredible “bird fishing†occurs in these waters, and every cast into the dipping gulls can result in a bite from all sorts of fish including: speckled trout, white trout, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, bluefish, redfish, and large gafftopsail catfish.
If you’re into kayaking or canoeing, Robert can take you and your small craft to bayous and lagoons of incredible beauty where prime sight fishing for redfish is possible. Fall and winter fishing is the best time for this type of redfish angling.
Robert caters to small groups of 1 to 4 anglers, and provides all necessary tackle, but if you feel comfortable with your own gear that’s even better. Brodie also offers quiet and relaxing fresh water fishing excursions on coastal rivers for a variety of species including: crappie, bluegills, shell crackers, bass, catfish, and an occasional striped bass.
